FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I expect at the Geared for Good hackathon?
Participants (“hackers”) spend 4 days working virtually in teams of 3-5 people to build and design a solution (“hack”) for one of the challenge streams. There are workshops, mentors, swag, and virtual high fives to guide you along the way. You bring your ideas, and we give you everything you need to make them come to life.
When is the last day to register?
September 23rd is the Early Bird Deadline (participants will only receive hackathon branded swag if they register by this date!) and 12 PM CST on October 5th is the Final Registration Deadline.
Do I need to be technical to participate?
We encourage hackers from all backgrounds to apply. Whether you're a junior in college or a Vice President of a company we believe everyone has a skill set to contribute and work together towards developing a "hack". We will also be organizing workshops and assigning mentors to aid you in your brainstorming process!
Do I need a team to participate, and how can I form one?
We strongly encourage collaboration during the hackathon and will offer resources to all hackers to network and form teams before and on the first day of the event. Teams are encouraged to have 3-5 hackers!
If you already have team members that you would like to hack with, please list them in the registration form.
Do I need a solution in mind to register?
No! We will be releasing the challenge streams on the first day of the hackathon at which point you and your teammates will collaborate for the next 4 days to develop a solution.
How can I learn more about the hackathon?
We will be providing a welcome packet with more information for all registered hackers, closer to the event date, but if you have any questions before then please feel free to contact us!
What if I'm interested in sponsoring the event?
We are constantly looking for new opportunities within sponsorship. If you are interested in working with us, please fill out the contact form.
